Grown in Città Sant'Angelo, Abruzzo, nestled between the mountains and the sea, these native tomatoes (Pera Abruzzo) are so perfectly sweet and flavorful that they practically need no salt. Verde Abruzzo, which owns the Fragassi brand, uses only the highest quality ingredients in its ready-made sauces and Fragassi artisanal Passatas. Naturally sweet and full-bodied, Fragassi Passata and ready-made sauces are produced entirely in Abruzzo, using only the finest ingredients.

The company is set in the green hills of Aprutino, halfway between the sea and the mountains, and surrounded by olive groves. The company changed its name in 2005 becoming today’s “Verde Abruzzo”. Gianni and his wife Ester are passionately committed to the creation of handcrafted products of the highest quality such as the “Passata di Pomodoro Pera d’Abruzzo”, grown and transformed on the farm. In addition to the two owners, the company avails itself of the help of collaborators, whose experience has helped to elevate its products to the state of the art. This was possible by wisely combining the flavor of ancient traditions with the use of modern technologies. The company collaborates with prestigious distribution chains around the world thanks to the attention paid to the quality of the products.

The olives and other raw materials used all come from Italian plantations, while the work processes are subject to strict self-regulation procedures according to the HACCP protocol, certified according to the BRC and IFS standards. Thanks to these measures, the company has obtained the Protected Designation of Origin certification.

Furthermore, in 2008 the “DOP Aprutino-Pescarese” signed Tenuta Fragassi obtained the prestigious “Three Olives” of Slow Food, an important recognition that attests its very high quality. The company is certified by ICEA for BIO products. It is also registered with the FDA for exports to the United States of America.

One of the products that plays a main role within the company is the Pera d’Abruzzo tomato. The farm owned by the Fragassi family deals with the cultivation of tomatoes and Verde Abruzzo processing and marketing. The product has a very short supply chain, to ensure authenticity, safety and a sweet and inimitable taste, without compromise. The “DOP Aprutino-Pescarese” oil is certified for the entire production chain up to bottling and sale. It has also obtained the prestigious Slow Food “Three Olives”, an important recognition that attests to its very high quality.
