Red pesto, or pesto rosso, is a Sicilian variation of Genoese pesto, typical of the province of Trapani. It is also known as pesto alla siciliana. It is made from sun-dried tomatoes, cashews, grated cheese, tomatoes, salt, and spices, combined with extra virgin olive oil.
Grown in Città Sant’Angelo, Abruzzo, between the mountains and the sea, these native tomatoes (Pera Abruzzo) are so perfectly sweet and flavorful that they practically need no salt. Verde Abruzzo, which owns the Fragassi brand, uses only the highest quality ingredients in its pâtés, pestos, and bruschettas, produced entirely in Abruzzo, using only the finest ingredients.
